Dictionary definition - a 'Time Capsule' is a historic cache of goods or information, usually a method of communication for people in the future.
Time capsules can come in a variety of forms that can be preserved in a variety of ways for future reference and use. For instance, some can be boxes, containers, tombs or even just a plain letter and can be buried, sealed shut or just passed on through generations.
I am fascinated by how a time capsule can hold data and information or even just stories of exciting adventures and lives and how it can be passed on over time. A prime example of a time capsule are the letters I brought back from New York. Even though they were mostly not sealed, they were still artefacts that contained stories and information about somebody's life. One letter was in fact still sealed, highlighting the fact that the envelope has acted as a capsule for the past 60 years.
Although I am not sure yet how a time capsule will actual work in my outcome, I am confident that I will be bringing this concept into my final composition, allowing it to be interactive; meaning the audience can post their own letters and notes into the work.
